well since i hav to take my bumper off anyways. should i do it myself again, maybe spend like 50 bucks or so and spray it with that rustproofing paint stuff, where it says u can spray over rust. i didnt do a good job the first time and the bedliner stuff peeled off and its all rusty. or just take it to this company that powdercoats and let them do it for around 150 bucks.

It depends on your money situation, if you've got the cash have it coated. The powdercoating will be more durable if done right. But if it were mine in my situation I would say diy for $20 with some sandpaper and rattlecans. I'm actualy working on refinishing a bumper right now. Sanded the excess rust off, some rust converter and filler primer now I gotta sand again and paint it. That's my opinion. Good Luck.

x2 sand or grind the rust down before your paint it or it will jsut flake off down the line and rust again

what bedliner stuff are you using that peeled did you scuff it up first or just shoot it over bare steel. powder coating is going to be the best method but also the most expensive it just cost me 120 to do mine. if you dont have the money for that take a sander to it and some rustoleum or something like that will probably only cost like 20 bucks

i used that duplicolor bedliner, i dont think i primered it, just sanded it the best i could. i got into much of a hurry. but i primered my back bumper and thats peeling in a couple of spots too. ill probably put back money each week until i have enough to have that company do it. it will be a few more months anyways. i need to get my car going first. see pics, dent in roof fixed before new windshield, new fender and mirror and a few other odds and ends. i already hav the windshield out along with the trim and rubber.

well i bought all my rustoleum paint on sale friday. 5 cans of rusty metal primer and 5 cans of black hammered look paint. for front and back bumper. now i can get a 3 gallon sandblaster with gun and hose for like 55 bucks. should i buy that or just get 3 or 4 cans of paint stripper? what does the cost of media blaster goe for these days? and where to get it? i figured either the baking soda or crushed peanuts, so i dont have to worry about cleaning up every speck of it. when i do start i will put pics up, before and after.
