It smokes when hot? Does it smell like fuel? Are you losing any coolant?

Idk... honestly, if it's smoking from the tailpipe while hot, it's ether a fuel issue or some serious oil burning.

If it's burning that badly, I think it's the valve stem seals that are shot. Try doing a compression test if able. That will really let you know whats going on.

No problem man. And it's actually not hard to do a compression test. Go to AutoZone or Advance and do their tool-rental thing (you get your money back), unhook the wire going from your igniton coil to your distributor. I also pull the fuel injector wires. Take each spark plug out one at a time and screw in the compression tester. Crank for a little, and see the reading. IIRC, the 4.0 should be between 120-150 psi with not very much difference between each cylinder.

Well now that the oil leaks are fixed i really want it to not burn any either. Its not much oil but it is burning a third of a quart a week. It smokes pretty good idling but only when it gets all the way hot like at stoplights after lots of city driving. White smoke. Any suggestions???

White smoke is usually a sign of coolant being burnt, especially when up to temp. Blue smoke is oil, black smoke is excess fuel. Does it smell sweet, as this is often a clue to what is being burnt.
