Default jeep newbie questions

I bought a 1990 jeep cherokee with th 4.0L and love to hate this truck but I don't think its all the trucks fault. I think it was the idiot that owned it before me. The ac compressor went bad at some point so he just put a shorter belt on it but it looks like the wrong side of the belt is riding on the fan pulley (the ribbed side in riding on the pulley) which also leads me to think it might be turning backwards which might explain some of my overheating issues. Can somebody post a pics of belt placement with the ac compressor gone. Also if I was going to do the cooling system conversion to get rid of the closed cooling system could i use a 1 row rad. or would i be better off with a 2 or 3 row and why? Also what is a renix, I have seen the term used but am lost. I believe mine is an xj right?

Sorry no pic of belt routing, a single row radiator should be adequate for stock cooling but if you have some mods or just want a higher capacity cooling system a 2 or 3 row radiator would be a better choice. Renix refers to your fuel injection system '87-'90 XJ's with the 4.0L were renix. And yes your jeep is an XJ, so yay!

i went to oreilly auto and bought a new 96 cherokee 4.0 radiator, 180 degree thermostat, and some heater hose. radiator was a drop in. got rid of my busted crappy closed loop jug, and now have no heat issues. mine never gets close to 210, and i ran the **** out of it today!

i dont have any input on the belt routing either. mine still has the ac compressor, which i plan to turn into an air compressor soon.
