Default Electrical Testing questions

I need some help from some of you guys with a little bit more electrical knowledge. I thought my rear wiper motor was bad, so I ordered a reman from Autozone. Got the old one out and put the new one in and no joy. So I got the multi-meter out. Tested continuity from a known ground and it was good at the pigtail for the motor. Same with the brown and pink striped wire. I was also reading around 11 volts at the brown and pink wire. The other two wires (brown w/ light green, and black w/white) have no voltage, they have continuity with themselves up the wire, so I know there is no break.

Anyway, all that to say, what do I need to test? Am I doing something wrong? Anyone have any good wiring and/or electrical internet resources they would like to share?

Thanks!!

Did you check to see if the relay is good as well ??? just to the right of the wiper motor.
I changed mine out last month with a used one and thought I had got a bad one b/c it would not work just plugged into the wiring harness. I had to ground the body of the motor out before it would come on.

what year is your cherokee.. some have the relay on the metal post that holds the motor up some have it other places.. some have more wires then others depending on what year it is.. i switched my 88 motor for a 95 and i had to chop out some of the wires and do a little re routing to go to my relay which was like a 3 prong instead of the 95s 5 prong ..

Yep the switch was on. I don't know where to go. Hopefully I can get a chance this week to check it out.

After several hours during different weekends, and 2 reman wiper motors later, I finally looked at the wire loom that goes through the liftgate and saw that a wire had been broken and was exposed. I decided to pull it out and check it out and viola, the pigtail for the wiper motor fell out, as did the pigtail for the rear defrost. So, I am going to have to splice in new wiring and make sure the liftgate doesn't pinch it anymore.

What was happening was while the liftgate was up, the wires were not being pinched so the wires were touching enough to be read as good (most of the time) but as soon as the liftgate was back down and closed, they were pinched and thus disconnected. This is my best guess anyway.

Here is a view of what it looked like. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9917174@N05/3457669699/
