the whole arm snapped off at the joint of the arm. just the back end of the wiper arm is still on.

I just had to do the same thing on a 94 XJ I bought in October. I just got a pair of vice grips and pulled directly outward on the piece still mounted of the broken arm, slid right off. They are threaded respectively and that's how they mount on.

It kinda looks like there might be a little silver clip? for a little bit safer dismount?

There is a tab you have to pull behind the wiper arm, pull that, then wiggle the rest of it off. I found this by buying a new wiper arm for mine, as when I got the jeep, she was missing hers.

Mine as well was busted off at the knuckle? The tab really didn't pull out easy I used a small flat head and just about pulled the tab off. Then I used the vice grips and pulled the attached piece straight off. I got a new arm and blade for 29.00 at Auto zone. It was a pain, but I got it off after about 10 minutes of working on it..

My entire rear wiper is missing too, I tried to grab one at the JY but I couldn't figure out how to take it off either. I saw the tab but when I tried to pull it outward it just seemed like it was bending in a way it shouldn't have been. Guess I will have to go back and try again!

Lol The local JY near me had about 10 Cherokee's . All Rear Wipers were already taken off ... I was bidding on Ebay and when someone outbid me to make the cost over 30.00 for a beat up used wiper arm and blade, I just went to the store and got a new one.
