rear view mirror auto dimming stopped working

rear view mirror auto dimming stopped working
is this a sign of a bad rearview mirror..i've never had a auto dimming mirror before so im not sure if i can fix the one i have or if i need to have it replaced..

there is a little button on the bottom of the mirror that lights up when i push it so im guessing that there is power...mirror doesnt do anything when i push it though..
