Question Rear transfer case output seal. 91 Cherokee

After the rear drive shaft slipped out of the transfer case during a rear u-joint replacement a large leak of fluid can be seen coming out of the transfer case where the drive shaft is inserted.

The u-joint was replaced due to my son's neutral drop which broke the rear yoke which was also replaced.
He is 17 and I supervised the repair work he did mostly via phone from work.

Is anyone able to tell me if I can replace the rear transfer case output seal without opening the transfer case.

no need to open anything, other than a beverage maybe. all you do is remove the rear d shaft again, and you pop the seal out with a seal puller, or just pop it with a screwdriver. clean the surface and install the new one. tip: clean off the yoke of the d shaft that goes into the seal, and apply a thin coat of any kind of grease, helps keep seal in tact, and last longer.

Thank you for the answer. Can someone point me in the direction of a supplier and a part number.

parts stores have them, just tell them you need a t case rear output seal for your year make and model.

it is common to have to go a couple times to get the right seal for some reason, best bet if you can is pop the seal out and take it with you to the parts store, in another vehicle obviuosly.
