You could also look out for one like mine. Also factory, & I have carried a 30" Revo on aluminum & a 31" BFG AT on steel spare. This one is bumper mounted with reinforcements under the bumper. I stopped using it when I went up to 32" mudder on steel tire - pretty heavy. Now the spare is on my roof, but it's no fun trying to get it down by yourself. I know I would be unable to, so if/when I get a flat, I hope 1) I'm not alone; 2) I'm not on the side of the road. I'm skinny and lack strength!

I was bored one day and decided to go to the junk yard to look at rear tire carriers. Front looking I found only one that would possibly work. The Bronco II rear tire carrier. The reason the trooper one doesn't work is because the jeep rear lift gate goes all the way out to the side of the jeep instead of stopped at the window. The only vehicle in the jy that I saw like this was the bronco ii. I almost got one to try out but didn't have room in my wheel barrel

im really just trying to avoid the tire on the roof cuz it puts the center of gravity too high 4 me

To the OP, you never actually said your budget, and I know you are looking to make one work from the jy. But Detours USA has an awesome looking set up that I am hoping to save the coin for here. For a rear tire carrier and recovery points, I think the price is great. It would save a lot of headaches from trying to make something else work, but at the same time, that's half the fun sometimes as well.
i love it but its practically 400 and me personelly got my lift for 200 so it seems kinda crazy.
