Rear Sway Bar Question
While I'm replacing the rear leaf springs on my '99 XJ I thought I'd also replace the sway bar and all its attaching hardware and bushings. I can't seem to find a replacement part for this. There's plenty of front stabilizing assemblies but not one for the rear. Does anyone know if a replacement for the rear stabilizing bar set up is just impossible to get? I suppose I could use the existing bar (it's plenty rusty but I could wire brush it and clean it up) and just buy new bushing and attachment hardware for it (which does seem to be available)....... Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think most folks (with a lifted jeep) completely remove the rear sway bar. I did and I don't notice thats its gone. Jeep drive great on the street with just the front sway bar.
If you want the rear, I would just wire brush it and paint it along with the mounting hardware. Run some poly bushing and grease it up real good with some silicone grease for suspension use.
I have never come across any aftermarket replacements for the rear.

Rear sway bars for the '99 XJ are hard to find most people just delete them. If yours is salvageable, clean it up and use new bushings and hardware. Otherwise, running without it is common and won’t hurt anything.
Most guys would just ditch it.
If it makes you feel any better about doing that take this into consideration.
Jeep deleted the rear sway bar from the factory in any Jeep with the Up Country Suspension Package.

I put a 2.5" OME lift on my '98 and '99 and removed the rear sway bar. didn't notice any bad effects. Also removed it on my '95 YJ and didn't notice any differnece.
