Default Rear sway bar

Good evening everyone.
I've got a 99 sport,4 door 4.0. While replacing some exhaust parts recently,I noticed that the passenger side sway bar was gone,no remnants left at all. My question is should I bother replacing it or just throw out the other half and be done with it? I have no idea when the part broke, could have been a month ago or was broken when I got it 2 years ago.
Any thoughts are appreciated?

Ok,thanks for the response. After reading up on the issue it seems that the consensus is that with leaf springs the sway bar doesn't really do much.

Unless you do a lot of towing the rear sway bar is useless.

In off road usage they are removed for added flex and better suspension response in the rear, like using sway bar disconnects in the front. Mine were removed many yrs ago.

I removed what was left of the sway bar yesterday,I haven't driven far so it's too early to determine if I can feel any difference. One positive though is that there is one less noise coming from the suspension.

The rear SB's were not on all XJ's from the factory and came as an add-on for many.
