Hey guys what's up so I wanna put speakers in the rear hatch but I didn't see any speaker wires when I had the panel off. What do they look like and where are they located..
Unless my 94xj didn't come with them?
Thanks a ton

If you want speakers in the hatch, your going to have to wire it yourself and make mounts for the speakers. I don't know any jeep with speakers in the hatch that came factory. So therefore there would,be no wiring in the hatch.

I'm not sure what you mean by HO (High Output?) but my '93 "High Output" had cutouts for speakers and wiring to the hatch. Don't know about the '94. If there are no grills in the panel, you probably don't have the wiring.

87-96 all should be prewired for 6 speaker system. My 92 came factory with it. My buddy's however did not. The wires were still there so he just hooked speakers up to it and worked perfectly

The next time I have the panel off I will post some pics. I'm considering changing out the speakers so maybe not too distant future.
My '93 is about as base as you can get except for rear washer and wiper but it does have an extensive harness including wires and plugs for front footwell courtesy lamps that I added. And just to be clear, it did not come with speakers, only the wiring.
Also, I said that if it didn't come with grills which probably implies a finished external grill. A more appropriate statement would refer to a place to mount speakers.
My '85 Pioneer which we bought new also had speakers in the hatch but I don't recall whether they were original equipment or added. I do know for a fact that the wiring was there from the factory.

My '93 came with wiring and speakers in the hatch from the factory. They were the same type of 5.25" stock speakers that I pulled from the front doors. All jeeps should have wiring though, sometimes it's just tucked in weird places.

My buddies '95 does NOT have the speakers, but has the wiring. His wifes '96 DOES have the speakers and wiring. My '00 has neither. This may be a mid-year '96 change over. A lot of the XJs in the junkyards here have the hatch speakers and no sound bar.

As long as we're sort of on the subject, can someone tell me what the two speaker mounting areas in the '93 dash were designed for. I originally assumed some kind of tweeter but it doesn't seem like an ideal place for tweeters.
