you should be able to find a little bitty amp for cheap. 4 channel. You can find em under $50 but depends how much power you want.
usually 6ch head units have outputs for the front, rear, and subwoofer/amp, not 3 sets of speakers.

I would run the wires for the tailgate speakers up into the sound bar with better quality speakers. That's what I did.

I already had the soundbar in my jeep from the factory instead of the hatch speakers, so the wires were already ran to the roof.
In your case you'll need to run new wires from the rear speakers (wires should be located behind the spare tire panel) though the D pillar and up along the roof.
I recommend not hooking up both the hatch speakers and the soundbar speakers though the same wires though - you'd be splitting the signal strength by doing so and end up with sub-par sound from both sets. You'd need a small amp to correct this.

I'm having a hell of a time removing the sound bar. I have the speakers out already, clamps off the overhead dome light and screws out of the trim pieces. Does it slide out towards the rear now or do I have to bend it towards the middle to slide it out of the trim? It doesn't really seem to want to go either direction and I'm worried about breaking it.

Damn! There are so many great ideas in here I don't know where to begin..... I have to build my stereo in phases as money allows. I already have a nice Alpine HU in place, but will be replacing it for one that is bluetooth compatible in the near future.
I have some REALLY nice Polk Audio 5&1/2 I think they are. Stereo system sounds like ***. I hooked the speakers up really fast years ago. I'm gonna put some 6&1/2 Rockford Fosgate 3 way coaxial speakers in as I just received into the sound bar. Plus I just got some sound deadener to put behind all the speakers. I'd like to leave the sound bar in place so as to keep it stock looking. At a quick glance, I don't want a POS thief thinking I have anything worth taking.
I'm thinking that in order to make this system sound decent, I'm gonna need an amp. I'd like a 5 channel as it would leave me the option to instal an 8 or 10" sub for better bass (Rock n Roll, Punk, Blues, Country). Can anyone make a recommendation on a good amp that won't break the bank? And where did everyone mount their amp?
The idea for tweets in the sound bar was ingenious!
