Rear shocks for a 3" lift
I know, this question and ones like it have been asked 10000 times, but I think mine's a little different.
My 94 has a ghetto 3.5" lift by a previous owner, and I'm slowly trying to fix what he screwed up. Currently, I think it's running stock Cherokee shocks, which don't seem to have enough length, and therefore cause it to top out all the time. I'm trying to remedy this by going with longer shocks.
I'm definitely going to do BPEs, and already have swaybar brackets modified and ready to go. So, I was planning on running stock Comanche shocks, since they have the extra length, and no barpin.
Unfortunately, my local parts stores want over $40 each for generic Comanche shocks, and I know I can get better shocks for cheaper on the internet.
I'm thinking about the Rough Country 8105s ($30), which are for a Comanche with 0-1" lift, the thought being that stock Comanche shocks are *supposed* to work on a 3" lifted Cherokee.
My question is would I be better off going with a slightly longer Comanche shock, or even ordering the 3.5" Cherokee shocks and trying to knock out the barpin? Since Rough Country gives me the option of picking my length, I'm kinda curious if going a bit longer is better. Has anyone else run these shocks before? Are the Rough Countrys decent, or is there better in the same price range? I know that Bilsteins are awesome, but I think they're out of my budget.
The Jeep is only used for light wheeling and DD'ing, so I don't need anything TOO crazy. Right now, I'm just trying to sort out the horrendous ride quality.

That bad, huh? I was planning on the Monroes, but was thinking about going with the RCs because they're cheaper and seem to have more options.

How's the ride on Skyjackers?
These are for a Comanche with 0-3", so they should fit a Cherokee with 3", right?

I have shocks from Zone offroad. Great place, people, and they ship quick. The bar pin is easy to get out. All I did was cut one side off with a dremel and tapped it out. Took like a minute.

I put the 2007-2010 JK rubi shocks in a few jeeps for people now... They ride really good, and can be found on ebay really cheap. I just helped my buddy put a RC 3" spring set(coils and new full leaf packs) in his 98 XJ and we put the JK non rubi shocks in it. It rides better then my stock 2000 xj.... he got them for like 60.00 shipped for all 4, with like 25 miles on them....
