If you're going with the Monroe, don't get the cheap yellow ones. Two months after I installed it, one of them developed a thunk on bumps. I got rancho shocks from O'Reilys and have been happy with them.

Mine is still stock and I just picked up some of the Red Gabriel shocks at Auto Zone. They seem to ride well, no bounce and not stiff. Probably not good for heavy off roading but ok for daily driving. I think they are the Gabriel Guardian actually and only about $20 each.

Yup Bilstein 4600's if you want to pony up a bit of $.

I've got Monroe yellows on the front of my 97 heep and they aren't all that bad, a touch soft for my taste but that's life.

Monroe Senso-trac seems to be a good middle ground shock. Work well on my front.

What kind you running up front? Don't know if I'd want to run hi psi charged shocks in the back only.

I like the Monroe Sensa-Trac product for a good middle of the road choice for primarily street driving. Specifically I used the MONROE Part#58594 Sensa-Trac Load Adjusting; Sold In Pairs for the rear. Rockauto sells them for $87.79 for the pair.

I have a hitch and periodically tow so these worked great at maintaining ride height. They have a coil-over helper spring as part of the shock assembly. This mildly increases cargo capacity & tongue weight capacity when towing. Primarily it helps maintain a level ride height with a load in the rear.

I have not felt any regular ride quality difference and have had them on my Ford Explorers and my recently acquired XJ. I have around 300miles with them on the XJ but closer to 75,000 miles of experience with them on Ford Explorers. Very Pleased with both service and longevity.

This advice and around $1.00 will get you a cup of coffee, $6.00 if Starbucks
