rear shock installation
when trying to remove my rear shocks from the body the bolt heads snapped off. this left just the shaft of the bolt inside the body. i took my jeep to the garage today and they told me that is was going to be 3 hrs. of work at $72.50 an hr!!! i would like to know what the easiest way to remove these bolts from the body would be if i was to do it myself. thanks.

happens all the time, i've done hundreds, they all break. its a welded nut on the other side. beat the broken bolt out by hitting it with an air hammer, or a hammer and chisel to break the welded nut off. then replace with regular nut and bolt. first time is a little harder, shouldn't take more than an hour. after you do it a couple times when a bolt breaks it only takes about 10 extra minutes to replace the shocks.

i don't have any, you can't see it, the upper shock mount is only an inch or two away from the body. you can fish a nut through usually by hand, i've had to use a flexible magnet a couple times.

you don't need to drill or go through the cab. simply punch the welded nuts out, and replace with regular nut and bolt. there's so much discussion on this, and its really so simple.
