Default Rear Main Seal Question

When I first got the Jeep it would drip every once in awhile. Went to an offroad park Friday and now its leaking all over the place, only while driving. Then when I let it sit just the oil that leaked will drip and thats it. On the way home yesterday I noticed a slight howling/grinding noise coming from where it leaks. The oil is topped off too. Could the seal be causing the noise? Or do I have other issues. While I was at the park I did go the a major water hole. Had water up to the door speakers, but ran fine. Going to start tearing the oil pan off tonight. What else do I need to look for. And there is no water in the oil.

Got home and got the oil pan off. There is a one-piece gasket on it (factory?) By looking at the oil pan gasket there are tears all along the rear part of the gasket. Can this be causing my oil leaks??? If so, I won't bother with the rear main seal seeing as I have to have this back on the road on Wednesday and no one has the rear main seal. Or should I go ahead and replace the rear main seal anyways? Oh, and the oil pan gasket has tears on the two rear 1/2" bolt holes and along the rear curve (see-thru tears).

You may as well replace your rear main while the oil pan is already off, they are cheap and having the oil pan off is 3/4's of the job in the first place.

There's no way I'd get that close and not change the rear main.

Well going to have to say if you are already that far then might as well get it done so you know it isn't or won't be an issue for a bit... but if you can get it right away, and you can afford to replace the pan seal twice... then throw a new on now clean everything first and then get it all back together, see if over the next couple weeks it takes care of the issues you were having with the leaks... and then get the rear main on order in the mean time... all else fails if it does fix it, you will have the new rear main seal waiting as you will need it one day I am sure...

what would the shipping be from the states? It would almost be worth it to have someone pick one up at the parts store and air mail it.

It's expensive. I buy regularly stuff from the states and the cost is not the only problem. Shipping takes a lot of time. at the end it's easier and cheaper to buy from the dealer or from one of those big distributors like ASP Eberle (crown distributor) regarding the oem stuff. Custom parts is another story. I've payed my 3 inch RC lift 300 bucks off e-bay over here.
One good thig regarding the rear main seal would be to purchase one of those double lip ones, that would be worth money and tme.
