Had a strange experience and not really sure what is correct?? I gave a 1990 cherokee limited to my nephew for school and while he was away at school in Vermont he was stopped by a policeman who issued him a warning ticket because when he was making a right hand turn the rear light or tail lens had the upper red light blink and also the amber one below it blink indicating that he was making a right hand turn.. When he came over my house he showed me the warning and told me what happened .. I checked out the jeep and all the lights do work as the policeman stated the left side worked exactly the same as the right side the upper red light and the amber light blinked and the bottom light came on when the brake was applied or the lights turned on.. My nephew said the policeman was very nice and their are no points or infractions or monetary penalty`s involved with the written warning.. He attends college their and I just want to fix it before he goes back in August.. We live in long island, n.y. and had the jeep inspected by a shop and they said all was good?? I myself am retired from the NYPD and was not really a ticket writer or familiar with traffic violations I thought if it was blinking while turning that was good?? lol.. I did take off the rear lenses from the truck to see if anybody had spliced into they wires but they appeared unmolested.. If anybody has any insight or know what lights should be blinking when turn signal is being used please let us know.. I really don`t want him to get stopped again (small town) when he goes back to school..

 

sounds like it could be a bad ground or a short in the system
