Rear End Problems...To Weld or Not to Weld
Ok, so my rear end is going out in my cherokee. Nothing special just has the stock 3.55 gearing in it, but anyways I opened it up today and the teeth are all eaten away. In a perfect world I would find a used set in decent shape since a new one is way to expensive, but I can't find one.
I know all the issues that come with welding a rear end, but I have never been in a cherokee that had the gears welded in. How does it ride? I'm thinking that since the vehicle is pretty light it shouldn't be to bad but I'm not sure. Any info would be great thx

Well do you drive it on the street or is just a trail rig "Licoln Lockers" or what ever you choice of catch phrase are ok for off-road only but on the street it won't allow the inside wheel to turn slower so you'll be scrubbing every corner and your tires will wear down hell of fast. So for street NO for off-road only GO.
it will mainly be used for off road, but it will also see some road time. especially when driving to and from different trails. but if it will only lock up around corners i dont think it should be to terrible right? i mean no more u turns haha but whatever
