Default Rear End Info

Just bought a 1995 Cherokee with the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle. Looking at Detroit Lockers but they are available in 27 and 29 spline. Is there a way to tell what spline I have? Not even sure if the axle is stock to my Jeep. John

If it's factory it's a 27 spline.

Personally i'd slap a 29 spline 8.25 in it before locking it but that's just me.

Only true way to tell is to pull the shafts and count the splines.

It's a 27 spline. They didn't change to 29 until late '96 and so on until '01.
