Exclamation Rear driver's side seat bolt broke off.

It's pretty flush to the floor. I tried using vice grips and turning it, but I have no luck. I don't really care if things in the interior break/stop working, but this is a matter of safety, so I can't let this one slide. Any suggestions?

If you’ve got 3 of 4 I wouldn’t sweat it until you get time to play with it . Try welding a nut to the top of the broken bolt and wrenching it out . This can take several attempts but is my favorite method . If that doesn’t work you’ll probably have to carefully drill it out and retap to the next largest size .

Cut the bolt flush to the floor with an angle grinder, drill out the rest, get a harden nut, bolt and lock washer. Insert bolt from underneath and tighten down. Touch up with some black rustoleum and your good to go.

Here's a picture. I do not have access to a welder. I'll probably end up drilling it out like mentioned above but I'm not for sure.

If it isn't an emergency, then I would try to spray it with a good penetrant (no WD 40) about 4 times per day for a week. After that use a cold metal punch and a small hammer to peen a hole and hit the hole at an angle so as to try to turn the bolt loose and out.
Another option would be to cut a slot in the bolt and use a slotted screw driver to remove it. I recommend the week of penetration before trying this as well.

lift the carpet up, a good center punch in the center, drill out the center, add a bit of heat with the use of an easy out it will come out nicely.

I'll soak it for a few days, but I'm not sure how long I can wait. I'll let you guys know how it goes later.

x2 this (though I would probably not cut it flush before drilling - that's just me). There is very little chance of getting that bolt turning no matter how long you soak it. Those seat bolts traverse the body and are in the outside world and become hopelessly fused with the welded nuts they go through. Save your time, and just drill it out completely and replace, before you get something like an easy-out broken off in it and then have to drill that out too.

If its sticking up enough, you might get it out with one of these. Its a stud puller. Stud puller, drill, or weld a new nut onto the stud. Pick your poison.

I fear that this is exactly what you'll find.

I broke off one of those stupid bolts myself and drilled it completely out.

I'm assuming this is the bolt bolt and NOT the big stud with the nut on the inside (assuming yours is like mine), right?

Go for a left-hand drill bit. When drilling out bolts they will often back the bolt out themselves because the heat from drilling will act to loosen the bond between the nut and bolt.

He is correct. 2 of mine broke when I replaced my floor pans. I drilled mine out and used a bolt and nut

I actually got off the phone with my grandfather. He was going to lend me an easyout. Guess I'll call him back and tell him that it probably won't work.

That is correct, PatHenry. This is the bolt that is exposed to the outside world.

I'll end up drilling it out this weekend. I don't have enough time at the moment.
