That is the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle, but I'm not sure what your question is.

Think he is asking if it's a lsd, not lad, and no, it's not a lsd.....standard open diff.

It would be much easier to install a auto locking "lunchbox" style diff. No messy with ring/pinion gears, bearings, setting backlash, etc.

It's a traction enhancing type of differential that replaces the 4 small spider gears and installs easily in 2-3 hours with common tools. Most of the 2-3 hours is spent removing/installing the diff cover, cleaning gasket material and refilling the diff with gear oil.

That's why I posted Google. There are multiple brands available with prices from +/-$250 to $500. Some have different features, etc. Google "traction enhanced diffs" and read up. Somebody will always say one's better than another but u can learn a lot from reading, then make your own educated decision as what's best for your situation vs others opinions of what best.

Here's a video that does a decent job of explaining the 3 basic types of diffs.....open, limited slip and locking, the latter two being traction enhanced diffs. Forget the fact that it says Eaton G80 in the video, that's just one brand/model of many brands/models. There's all kinds of limited slip and locking diffs.
