Rear defroster switch turns on rear wiper sprayer

Rear defroster switch turns on rear wiper sprayer
On my 98 xj when I press the rear window defroster button it turns on my rear window windshield sprayer instead. When I press and hold the rear wiper button to turn on the rear window spray the light for my rear window defroster turns on as well. Both buttons turn on my rear window sprayer? I have my rear tailgate panel off all wiring looks clean? Is this a issue with the switches?

Sounds like. Remove the cover and panel and take a look. Reach down beside the center console with your hands and pull towards the rear, the bezel is hinged at the top by the vents.
