Rear Defroster Issues

I have a '98 Cherokee and have been having issues with my rear defroster. When I push the switch, the light comes on but as soon as I let go of it, it turns off. When I hold it down, the defroster works however again, as soon as I let go of it, it turns off. Any suggestions to get this thing working properly?

Is the relay making an audible clicking sound?

Nope, no clicking sound.

Check for a bad relay would be my guess.
