Default Rear Defroster Help!

hey guys i have a 99 4.0. when I push my defroster switch to turn on, it doesn't stay on... I push it and the light comes on as I'm holding it down but when I let off, it turns off. I've checked the connections on the hatch and @ the mirrors(heated mirrors) checked the relay and the fuse. Tested it the other day on my way to work as the back window was froze and I held it down for a min or two and it defrosted the whole window so i know it actually works.. just wont stay on by itself... any ideas?

I doubt its the switch, but i replaced it anyways.. still the same thing. Is there a timer or something somewhere? Something that tells the defroster to shut off?

ok next step - replace the relay. It's not a normal relay though, it's a 10min timer relay. It's bright red so you can't screw it up.

Grab a new one from the dealership.

This is the "kick Panel" right? the one at the bottom(rear Defogger defrost) is the only one? The current one i have now is black.... so wrong relay in there?

It could be black i guess - maybe that's your problem is it's the wrong relay type.

My guess is also the timer circuit in the relay.
