Hello ! I recently changed the diff fluid. Had to get a cheap paper gasket. ( I’m not a fan of rtv) but I noticed the last guy to change the fluid put this weird brake line bracket on the inside of the cover instead of the outside? My question for those who have the Chrysler 8.25 is how it’s supposed to go on? I just put it on the outside? Let me know if I fudged up.
If the bracket was installed on the inside of the cover there's a good possibility it got bent when it was torqued down.. Now you're installing it correctly but the damage is done and a paper gasket isn't going to seal it.. Try to straighten it out or get another cover..Or use the RTV, but it defeats your intentions of not using it... Too bad you're not closer I'd give you one...
P.S. Mine has an additional, extension bracket that actually fastens to the cover..But if yours reaches you probably don't need it..
I dont care how chrysler or anyone else does it. I would never put any kind of bracket between the cover and houseing. Only exception would be if there's a machined recess and that is the only option. Could be a recess in the houseing or cover. Though I havent noticed neither on my 8.25.

yeah I think it got bent cause now that it’s on the outside. It leaks from the top. Why are people morons. Lol. Guess I’ll be getting another diff cover. Thank you for the help tho!
Engine: 4.0, new lifters valve job with new springs and exhaust valves, preload set with shims
The manual says not to use ANY gasket, just sealer. I know, right? When I did mine thats what I checked. So thats the way I did it, just cleaned it up real good and used the sealer, also got some new bolts which will help HUGE if the old bolts are rusted they won't want to go in all the way and give you a false tighten.
Needless to say,,a year later and no leaks whatsoever. I returned the gasket for a refund.
Also if you did use a gasket you may have bent the cover around the bolt holes which will need to be flattened out. Another note, there was no gasket on mine either when I took it apart.
I've never used a gasket for any differential I've ever opened up, on any vehicle. I have always cleaned the mating surfaces really well and put a bead of hi-temp RTV on the diff housing and let it sit for about 30 minutes, then put the cover on and hand tighten the bolts, but maybe a little extra turn on the bolts.... NOT all the way tightened. Then the next morning I torque everything. I have never had a leaky diff after doing it this way.
This way the RTV has time to get a little bit set and will act more like a rubber seal than just putting the bead on and immediately torqueing the cover on and smashing out all of the fresh RTV sealant.
