My 01 rear bumper is a rusted POS..Have been spraying the 8 bracket mount bolts to frame with penetrant for several days...seems easier then getting to the actual bumper bolts..anyone know if the bolts are metric or SAE...before I strip them out...thanks

6 point socket
Not sure what size they are but it should be obvious which one it is. Use only a 6 point socket and not a 12 point. 12 point will round them off quickly.

Not sure of the size, but they are metric. At least the one I took off a 99 XJ in the JY was.

I know I'm a bit late to the party here but I just removed mine the other day. They are a 15mm head with an M10 x 1.5mm thread

Well changed out my rusted pos for the bumper from my 92 that was in the attic forever...had to get 2 new mount brackets because I couldn't find the new ones I bought 10 years ago for the life of me...only issue was the 92 bumper mount holes did not match up with the 01 brackets...so I had to re-drill them top and bottom.... It was the bumper that I drilled.no big issue. Hardest problem was getting the old bracket bolts off...bottoms easy...top was difficult until I found that the black plastic "spray shield" at top of bumper came off...then it was fairly easy...its not an exact match but it saved me 150 bucks and 2 weeks waiting
