Default Rear Axle U-Bolts ?????????

Ok so I called up to order four U-Bolts to mount up my Jeep 8.25" and was asked .....

" What size? "

Like, I thought the parts place would know!

They don't.

So .... What size are the U-Bolts ????

Thanks

The 8.25 uses a 3 ich wide u-bolt, the Dana 35 uses a 2.65 u-bolt.

Does this make any sense?

I searched for these bolts on a few sites and found this on Quadratec.

91-01 w/ Chrysler 8-1/4" axle 3.55"wide
Now the axle measures about 3" wide, so 3.55" wide sounds too big. However the image on Quadratec shows them measure the bolt from center to center. This should make the measurement about .5 wider because of bolt diameter.

Here is the pic.......

I called three different places and all three asked for several measurements at different locations.

On the other hand Advanced Auto Parts offers these options .....

91-01 w/ Chrysler 8-1/4" axle 3.55"wide

you would subtract 1/2 the thread diameter (12mm = 0.472") twice.
3.55 - .472 = 3.078 inside u-bolt measurement. This would fit your 3" OD axle tube.

I have the same axle and replaced mine this weekend, they are 3" measured from inside to inside. I paid about 34 dollars with tax for them from autozone.

I just bought some today when i changed my springs. I used 3 1/8" wide, 7.5" tall and it was perfectly fine. $6.99 at most auto part stores.

Yep, 3 inch wide by 7 3/4 inch long, or maby 8 1/4 inch long for Dana 44 and Chrysler 8 1/4 rear axles.

Thats actually the size I went with too since every store was out of the 3" packs. Really measured about 3 1/16 where they made contact with the axle and after installation they were snug.

You have the size now. I get mine at Delta Spring, Breslau, Ontario, they doem while I wait from stock rods. Their business is transport truck and trailer maintenance, they are equipped. $8.25 each with tall nuts, great deal and service. Since I live rural, I keep stock at home of sets in various lenghts, from stock to lifted. Try to check out a truck and trailer maintenance business near you.

Along the same lines... what size do I need for a D44?

Would it be 90-01 w/ Dana axle 3.18"” wide?

the D44 rear end uses the same u-bolts as the C8.25 but the D35 uses smaller u-bolts

the D44 was only 84-88....

the D35 was 84-01 (some years were non c clip tho)

the C8.25 was 92-01....
