Re debate HOAT in a 2001 XJ
From what I have gathered, Chrysler started with the HOAT stuff in 2001. That being said, I am about to do new hoses, t stat, rad cap, sending unit, flush heater core before winter. I know that most say use good old green stuff. My concern is this: I work in the forklift industry, and specifically on Toyotas. We use a specific antifreeze that is red. We are told only to use this because of acid content and blahs blahs blah. The interesting thought behind this is several of our customers have cooling system failure when we find that they have serviced their own units and swap to green. Alot of water pumps and radiators are deteriorating, at XXXX hours whereas the ones we maintain and use red, are holding up just fine.
Its 2019. I seriously doubt anyone has used HOAT in this XJ in years. Going back to flushing and redoing the plumbing. Knowing what I know in my industry, would it behoove me to use the Zerex G-05 for the longevity of my vehicle? Or is the green stuff really just fine.

Green stuff. Drain, refill with WATER, add some Dawn dishwashing liquid, drive normally for a week. Drain, flush, replace with 50/50 green stuff. Don't make this complicated!

HOAT was designed to limit corrosion inside aluminum engine blocks and heads. "Green" ethylene glycol coolant is fine as long as you maintain the proper pH level. I don't remember what it's supposed to be, but studies have shown this to be true. Google "Coolant pH" for more info.
