RE 2" with aal or blocks? Which is better
I ordered the RE 2" aal lift from quadretec http://www.quadratec.com/products/pr...ts&c=123&srt=l
I just saw the same lift there except it uses blocks instead of aal. It seems to me that blocks would last a whole lot longer that add a leaf. My springs are sagging as every cherokee does so I probably will get new leaf pack too. They will either be the medium or heavy duty from quadretec. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with blocks vs aal.
Thanks

Blocks don't wear out, but with sagging leaf springs, you won't get the full 2" of lift. An AAL will stiffen up your worn springs, getting you closer to the full 2". If you're planning on new leaf packs anyway, I'd stay with the AAL as you can swap it over to the leaf packs once you have them.
Some guys use blocks, but it makes axle wrap a greater possibility. If you're stil sagging in the rear, look at shackles too.
edit: Beat me to that last part Tj

I'm thinking of putting new leaf packs in. Prolly either the medium duty or heavy duty from Quadretec. I want the front and rear to be level. Do you think the heavy duty with the blocks will be too jacked up?
Sorry, meant to write" aal" instead of blocks in that last sentence.

No problem
BTW, you only want the heavy duty leaf springs if you have a lot of heavy accessories on your Jeep and will do a decent amount of towing.

Prolly the only towing Ill do is with a trailer with one or two motorcycles on it. They only weigh about 900lbs together. I'll prolly with the mediums.

Hi, maybe you also know about the Volvo 300 Series? The single leaf spring used Volvo 340 is very strong and can be used to replace on sheet the leaf XJ spring. Cut both ends and tuck in the second or third. You do not have to worry about axle wrap and also increase height of the car about 2 inches. Just sharing my experience...
