x2 on taking a while to install the lift. If you've never done it before and you are doing it by yourself it will take maybe a day and a half. took me a full 12 hours over two days to install this lift. I broke all four rear shock bolts which took up about 2 of those hours maybe more. It would have definitely been easier having some help when doing this. But all that being said. It was a great learning experience and well worth the time. enjoy man.

took me 5 hours to put a 4.5" kit in a friend's jeep.
I would have called them, but we had the thing apart and we needed to get it back together. The new ubolts we got were only $8 apiece, with nice thick washers and nuts.

Also, I'm not saying you CAN'T put the kit in in the time they recommend, but if it's the first time it's being done, or you have no prior install experience with a lift kit, it could take a while. YMMV.

i installed the rc3" lift two weeks ago. I just finished the last mods to go along with the lift such as a new brake line and a tc drop. I couldn't be happier with the way my jeep rides. It is a DD and rides fine on the road, no poor handling issues.

I ended up going with this 1.5" spacer/shackle lift because I had already purchased 30x9.5" BFG All Terrains and this should be plenty to clear them:

http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_1.html

The guy who mentioned carparts.com was spot on. I got the lift, shock boots, standard steering stabilizer and boot all for $138 shipped. It seemed to keep the tires/lift under $500 since I only paid $1600 for my Cherokee.

damn, wtf is everyone going to other websites to buy this crap from.....just go to roughcountry.com. you get a better deal, better service, and they like dealing directly with you so they're more workable.
cause other places you can buy them cheaper than the manufacturer's website.

and you get the poor customer service you pay for.

on top of that, just don't order from the website. Call them, order over the phone. establish a sales-to-customer relationship.

end of story, you can get better deals and better customer service from RC direct.

good setup for the money. can even be permanent on a d/d...much better than an AAL.

if you start blowing through ujoints on your rear axle let us know...I don't think 1/5" shackle will affect driveshaft angle enough to matter, but I am curious.

You mean driveshaft u-joints at the pinion end of the driveshaft? I kind of doubt 1.5" would do that. After hearing nothing good about the AALs I decided the shackles would be a better solution. And I don't think RC would have matched that $80 price from carparts.com. In fact, I'm not exactly sure what to expect for 1/3 of the MSRP. I'll let you guys know.

sorry, long day I'm just about to leave forr a 36 hour drive from socal to WI to go back home...can't sleep but tired as heck.

yes, driveshaft ujoints. I doubt they'll go bad either, but I am interested in what will happen.

If anything it seems like the shackle lift would hurt the angle at the t-case end of the driveshaft more than the pinion end. I can replace a lot of u-joints for the price of a new driveshaft and SYE, though.

not really. changing one end would change the driveshaft angle equally, so it gets affected. biggest issue with this little of a shackle lift is changing the angle at which the ujoints have worn into operating at...that's highly likely to be a problem @ 1.5" than it is @ 3". I rebuild driveshafts any time I lift because of just that.

RC sent me the wrong bolts also but if you heat them up u can get them to work. i called them up and told them they sent to wrong u bolts and now they're sending me a tc drop in place of the u bolts.

I wouldn't go using those u-bolts. Do yourself a service and get some from a local shop to fit your axle; heating and bending them will just weaken them and cause issues down the road.

...yeah your "heated" ubolts are now no longer tempered, they are junk, and they will snap at some very inconvenient time.

replace them before you even put one more mile on it.
