Hello, I am new to this community and seek the help of some wiser cherokee owners.
I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic. Lately I have been experiencing some problems with my idle.
There are some days my Jeep will start first crank no problem, then there are days I must floor the gas to start it.
My main problem is that it not too often but very randomly will start to idle high, especially while in drive and my foot is on the brake requiring me to put more pressure on the brake so the tires dont break free. But a quick tap on the gas will correct the idle.
Within the year I have replaced the Mass Airflow Sensor and the Throttle position Sensor.
If anyone has any knowledge on what the solution may be I thank you in advance.

X2^, Agreed. I guess the IAC, (and throttle-body) can be cleaned with throttle body cleaner
You might check a couple easy manifold bolts. If you find some loose you need to remove the air-cleaner and tighten them all, starting in the middle and working out. I use short little bursts of starting fluid to look for vacuum leaks. If you hit one the sound of the engine will change.
Doubt you have a MAF sensor. The MAP does that function. The tube to it up there on the firewall can be pretty fragile, it's always worth making sure that that is A1 since any little flaw will make it run rich.
