Default Random dying or studder

98 4.0 will randomly die/studder, could be idyling or 60mph, once a month or once an hour. No rhyme or reason. Did get it to do it one time by tapping the main wire cable leading to electronic control module, all connectors tight/dry/visually ok,. Also no codes have ever listed.

Your fuel pump may be dying as well. But def check sensors first. This happend to my Dakota a couple years ago. Checked sensors, coil, etc.. Turned out fuel pump was not functioning properly.

My vote is the CPS (crank sensor) since I had the same problem and symptoms...Tj
