Yup, thats how you top it off. The easiest way to fill the system is to take off your top hose and fill it from there. Then just top it off with the resivoir.
No, that WILL NOT work. That is the rad out of a closed system Renny era Jeep, and they had a pressurized bottle that was a part of the system. You need a rad out of an XJ post 1992 in order to get a rad cap on the rad, and that is what you are supposed to have. Yours is an over flow bottle, and will not hold up to the pressures that a closed system would put upon it!! HTH!!

95, while you have your Jeep apart and you need a new radiator anyway, I strngly recommend a 3 core radiator likethe ones sold by CFS Radiator. Since installing mine in my XJ, I've never ha cooling issues again. 3 core radiators really shouldhave been standard equipment on the 4.0 XJs. Like COS siad, the radiator in your pics is for the old style closed system used in the Renix era XJs. 1987-1990. You definitely donnot want to have that cooling system in your 95 XJ.

This is similar to what I bought when I switched to the open style system. Mine was cheaper than this one, but you get the idea:

that is the wrong overflow bottle for the rad in the pic you will have no way to fill the system. besides my main question would be why go back to a closed setup when the open is the better one.
