radio problem
Grab a multimeter and check for continuity between the speaker, and the head unit's speaker leads- the wires are prone to breaking in the rubber "boot" between the A pillar and door. If the speakers are good, and two head units exhibit the same problem, I'd suspect the wiring.

check the connections at both speakers. it might be a longshot but it is easy to check. and try to check the wires around the doors and the radio harness for broken or frayed wires.
