Radio no longer getting power
I'm driving a 1990 Cherokee Laredo, and I've had a kenwood head unit (oh so nice piece of equipment) installed for about a few months. Recently, my radio stoped turning on. I never did anything to the original wire connection leading directly from the unit, so I imagined it was a blown fuse. Much to my disapointment, I checked the block fuse panel located underneath the brake pedal. Its still good. I even took my test light to see if it was maybe loosing power. That lighted up too.
So here I am, trying to find a mystery inline fuse which is given on the schematics for my year found in my haynes thinking thats the issue. When I took the radio out of the dash, I tested for power there also. Nothing. Is there truly an in line fuse for the radio? Or possibly some relay of some sort I'm not finding?

Yes, it does... BUT, there was no power to the the deck. I checked both sides of the main large connection leading from the deck with a test light. soo.. no I didn't check the fuse in the unit itself. I'll do that tomorrow, but I doubt it would yield a result.
I will, afterwards however, look into the ignition switch. can you explain that a little more? would there be other characteristics to a failing ign. switch? the switch as a whole? or segments of it?
Thanks for the reply

Not sure if it would help, but we had to replace the switch in our '89 because it was going out. We found if you move it just right, you might get power to the accessories. After swapping it out, it works like it should. Try that before you go and get one, just move it around back and forth while testing for power.

Because I'm at work but do I need to remove the front panel or will the cover on the column free off easily from some bolts underneath? Also, we're talking the starter switch like in the photo I attached?

What freegdr said.
Also, do your wipers and HVAC functions work? These are included in the accessories circuit so if they are functioning, your ignition switch and plug are probably okay.

If the switch is going out and you try and limp it along it will start to melt the plug and possibly part of the harness. Switch is 18$ and about 20-40min of time. The longer it goes the accessory functions you will lose, and eventually wind up with a no start.

I just replaced the ignition switch. After doing so, all accesories work only when in the on or acc position. Also, this is a little weird, but now the wiring seems to be a bit off. My constant power wire (pink) no longer is getting power as it should ... constantly, and even while running. The only wires that recieve power while on or acc are the Vio/or and a blu/white. As per my Haynes manual, the violet/orange wire state that its used for the power through run/on and acc and the blue / white is for i believe for light or dim control.
And the radio wont power with just the on/acc wired connection, it requires to be hooked up to the blue/white wire....
Any thoughts?
