Question Radio Acc wire not working

The wire that has +12v all the time for the radio to retain memory is not working. I've checked all the fuses and they are all good. Does anybody know where I could splice into that is +12 constant? I'd prefer not to run a wire directly from the battery but have no idea where to start.

Ok i will check the fuses under the hood in the morning since its dark out now. If they're all good, what are my options for splicing into a 12v constant that already exists somewhere in the wiring system?

Honestly just save your self some trouble and run one from the battery. Tapping off another power source may result in un-forseen problems like blowing fuses ect.

where exactly is the fuse for this wire? i've looked under the hood and cannot seem to find it. i will probably just end up running one off the battery, as I have to run a 4 gauge wire to my amp anyways, but it would be easier to just replace a fuse.

On the topic of running my amp wire - what would be the best location in the firewall to drill a hole through for this? I've looked but havent found any holes big enough for it already. thanks alot guys

Yeah don't splice.. can create more problems. Not sure about the 87 but the fuse box on my 95 is a long black box with a cover on the drivers side (RHS in Australia). Its easy to run a 12v wire from the battery, just make sure you use an in line fuse. Look for a clear spot on the firewall that you can recognise from both sides so as not to drill into anything else. Then use a rubber gromet so the wire is protected from wear.

If you are going to run a 4g wire you may want to put a covered distribution block somewhere under the dash so you don't have to do it again in the future.

Is it the actual power wire or the blue wire that you plug into your fuse panel so the radio turns off when you turn the ignition off? If you run it straight from the battery it will be able to be on all of the time.
