The last time I replaced the plastic bottle on my 90 XJ I replaced the OE rubber strap (that holds the bottle) with a 2" wide metal strap. I used a piece of closed cell foam between the bottle and the metal strap so it won't damage the bottle. The metal strap keeps the plastic bottle from blowing up like a ballon which is what causes them to crack.

Looking for a write for the open cooling system. My 90' xj radiator is leaking.

Thought I would throw this out.. I had a Taurus do this many years ago and it turned out to be a failing water pump.

here you go. It's really easy. You basically just replace the upper hose with a new one, splice in a filler pressure cap, replace your overflow bottle with a new one, and you're done

I got that after market splice in filler cap from NAPA for less than $20 IIRC.

Bought it a couple weeks ago.
