-Ive been upgrading all of my wiring & am using 2 guage for the battery cables. Ofcourse i want to do the alternator but the stock wire goes into a harness/plug & dont see where its connected to!! Theres only 3 wires connected to the batteries pos terminal, the starter, the wire to under hood fuse box, & one for my accessories that splits up with fuse blocks & splitters.
-Hopefully this question isnt a really dumb one, but can i just take the positive wire off, tuck it away & run a 2g directly from the alt to the batteries pos terminal & call it a day??
Thanks!!

you dont se the wire coming off of the battery because for the altrnator the wiring is from the Power Distribution Center (under hood fuse block). It runs off of fuse 1(125A)
the wires would be coming off of the bottom of that PDC and its a black and white 8 gauge wire.
I hope this helps

-Well the question is, can i just cut & disreguard that wire & run my own 2g wire straight to the battery, with the addition of that 125a fuse id assume??
-Yah its black & looks like a white stripe & a bit smaller then 8g but then again they all look small next to the new 2g wiring!!

personally I wouldnt do that. If it Aint broke dont fix it. but i dont see a problem with that since the PDC is not a computer. If you want to do it id say run the new wire and fuse to the alt. and dont discard the old wiring until you know that it is charging.

-I have so much accessories that turnin the roof lights on alone gives me a 2 volt drop!! Everythin is now in 2 guage wiring & the alternator gettin a 2g wire is a MUST!!! From what ive read, all thats needed is to disguard the pos wire, pull the fuse, & run my 2g wiring with this, http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=11287, straight to the battery & im done!!
-U wouldnt tell my poor little d30 that it aint broke so dont upgrade it when im runnin 40"s now would you??? LOL!!
