i replaced my fuel pump last week, along with the sending unit...basically the entire fuel delivery system in the tank
I will start out by saying this...i watch my fuel mpg very carefully. When i use to fill up the gas tank, the fuel gauge would go way past the "full" line
now when the pump shuts off it stops right on the line
before i would get about 75-85 miles to a quarter tank, and about 150 to a half tank
now im getting about 60 miles to a quarter and about 120 ish to a half tank
My question is, could this new pump and sending unit be throwing my numbers off?
my mpg (calculated) is up about 1 mpg.
I dont want to start a whole thread on "if you want better mpg, drive a honda"
thats not the point..im curious why my number "averages" is off, but my mpg calculated it way up? was the old unit "worn out" and the new unit more accurate or is there something wrong with the new unit?

I'd bet that the new sending unit float isn't in the exact same location as the old one. Did you compare them closely before you installed it?
If the new one is bent higher than the old one then the tank won't read completely full and will say it's empty before it really is.

MIne did the same thing after I replaced it...Actually I had the replacement good bad about a year later and the new one I put in read the same way. I wouldn't worry to much about it.
