I literally just got my license a month or two ago, and Ive been messing around of my grandparents farm with my 2001 Jeep Cherokee, Classic Automatic. Its great fun, I love the car compared to everything else I have driven so far.

What advantages are their to having a 2001 as apposed to earlier model Cherokees?

My Cherokee is completely stock, whats are the first things I should check into working on? Like certain upgrades where if I replace a certain part it will make a huge difference.

Now the previous owner (My crazy brother) blew out one of the back speakers, possibly both back speakers actually. How much should a replacement set run and can I buy replacements locally, without being charged for installation or it usually a package deal with installation and replacement part costs? (I live in DC/MD/VA Area) What size and OHM rating are the stock units?

do the rear speakers yourself, use some walmart ones, the red and black walmart speakers arent bad, and are cheap.

it depends on where you live as to the advantages, but you have the 97+ front end and thats always a plus sign for looks.

 

Asking what advantages you have from owning a 2001 is going to be a very mixed review. There are people like me who dont care for the new cherokee's ( I consider new anything with an H.O. engine). Where as other people will prefer a newer one to an older one. The speakers are very easy to do your self. The back piece just pops off and the speakers are right behind it. Hope you enjoy your cherokee and if there is ever a problem with it you can search/ask here and someone will help you out.

go a little bit further with that if you would. Are you saying its good he has independent coils or a bad thing? My mind its bad, more things to go wrong/ wear out. But it might be better for some people.

 

i personally would rather have coil packs! They dont wear out as fast as standard cap rotor and wires. Also if you actually wheel your jeep through mud/water you dont really have to worry bout sealing coil packs up! Distributor on the other hand you would want to seal up the best you can and pray for the best. Coil packs are nice If you are have problems figuring out what a problem is, with a DRB scan tool you can fire each cylinders coil pack one at a time. Also your computer can tell you if your coil pack is good or bad.

 

Also how do you figure its more to go wrong??? explain??
