Default Quick question about axle shaft replacement

I've searched this but no deffinate answer. Do I have to drain my Dana 30 diff fluid to change out the axle shaft? It's a 2000, don't want fluid to come out of the axle tube

Only a small amount would come out. You can pop the cover and drain it clean it and put fresh fluid in.

Or if you have a pump just pump some out and then put some fresh fluid in.

I Put those greaseable axle tube seals on all my jeeps now, keeps the mess down to a minimum and the mud out...

Only other thing you should pay attention to is when re-installing the shaft, it doesn't hurt to put a little grease on the splines to help is slide by the inner axle seals, you don't want to damage them or it will leak out the tube. (this is OEM tech)

I'll just put it out there. If you haven't looked into your diff for a while, maybe you should pop it open to inspect and give fresh fluid. If you're worried about loosing clean fluid, you can just pull out With no issue
