Default Quick Question.

Ok so I'm going to get my cragar soft 8's for christmas and my tires... Just wanted to make sure... That my in-line 4 2.5L can handle 31" tires? Because my dad is skeptical about it due to the fact that the engine is small and he thinks that the tires are going to stress the engine too much and mess it up... So... Just double checking before I get an " I told you so" from my dad. Let me know. Thanks

Tell dad not to fret. The 4 banger can handle 31's. I ran 30/31/33's on my 4 banger and it's still running along just fine. You may lose some power due to the gears being off but you can correct that with the proper gears.

IMO its not "ideal" but it can handle it. as mudd said its more of a madder of a gearing issue then a motor issue. you will be fine.

what do you mean what gear ratio are you looking at? stock for your manual tranny is probably 3.07.

you will do fine with 31's

I was looking at the RughCountry Suspension lift kits.

I want to know the difference between these 2

1984-2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ 3" Suspension Lift Kit Complete with rear springs and shocks - Rough Country

1984-2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ 3" Suspension Lift Kit with shocks - Rough Country

I just see that the top one has rear springs.

but i mean why does it cost 499.99

compared to the one with out springs which cost
245.00

its has rear full leaf packs which are much more ideal then the AAL in the second kit. I would highly recommend spending the extra money for a kit with full leaf packs.

Ok.

Well i guess all of this is going to be delayed.

My dad went to ask our Mechanic if my car could handle the lift and the tires.

and he said No that it wasnt really the gears that changed the difference it was the engine and the engine wouldnt be able to handle it regardless if i do a gear change.

So he told my dad that if i wanted to do that i would have to do an engine swap. Kind of killed my plans...

but now i think im going to end up doing the engine swap and the 4WD swap with the money i was going to use for the lift and tires...

With a 3" lift and 31's will not be a problem.
