Default Quick question

Hey, with the lift I have do I really need to extend that rear steel brake line that goes to the hose at the rear axle? My steel line is a tetanus shot waiting to happen so I'm not real hip on digging into that just yet. It looks like I have some slack but not sure. Has anyone left it alone with a 3in?

Or, maybe jack up the driver rear from the frame and see how far it'll go?

If you just drive it on the street you are OK but if you flex it out you will need the extra length in the brake lines.

Yea It hasnt been wheelin since the new lift went on. I just have a feeling I'll be replacing all of it from the prop valve back in order to extend it. You know what happens when you touch weak break or fuel lines, somehow just falls apart.

if it looks like its gonna fall apart i would replace it. i would rather have it fall apart in your hands than fall apart when hitting the brakes at 60mph

X2, there shouldnt be a question when it comes to brakes. ALWAYS do it right.

OK, not quite falling apart but you know what I mean. Seems once brake/fuel lines rust like they usually do here in Ohio you dont want to touch em.

Anyway, when you relocate that rear line you're basically just bending the steel line down. Correct?

If you want to fix it so that you will NOT have to disturb the steel lines too much then just replace the flex line with a line from a YJ. They are the same thred and size but somewhat longer. Make sure to use line wrenches and soak the fittings with PB Blaster for a day or two first. Let us know how it goes.
Don't try to bend the steel line to compensate for your flex. With the rust that you describe you are asking for trouble trying to re-bend those lines. Just change the flexible hose to a longer one.

To relocate you simply bend the hard lines. I wouldnt do it, IMO.

Quoted for the truth. NEVER skimp on anything relating to your brakes.
