Default Quick fog light question.

I'm sorry for the ignorant question but I just need a nice simple answer. I live in VA and my past inspection required the removal of my fog lights to pass because I just had them wired to a switch. Simple question: by using a relay, can I SAFELY tap into the low beam wire just to a switch that would run down to a relay connected to the battery? I just need enough juice from the low beam wire to pass through the switch and tell the relay "hey I'm on", and since the low beams go off with the high beams, the signal would cut and the relay would shut off. Sound good?

use the power wire at the low beam lamp as the "signal" wire for the relay and your good to go.
