Default Quick dumb question..

On my iPhone trying to type this, so forgive the short brief question. Can the front sway bar and end links be removed without a jack or the tires being removed? I need to replace my links and will be doing the bushings as well and painting the sway bar.

Also, anyone happen to have torque specs or a general how to? Many thanks!

Awesome! Thanks y'all. I've done end links before on my old focus but the tires needed taken off, etc. Again, many thanks!

Alright, so let's take a look see!!

The sway bar removed; links still attached (this was a serious PITA. 22 year old components don't like letting go):

The old sway bar bushings and a link bushing:

I am personally thinking the old hardware should be replaced? Is Grade 8 good enough? Anyone replaced their hardware? Also, can that damned torx bolt be replaced with a hex bolt?

Also.... REALLY dumb question... how do I knock the end links loose from the actual sway bar?

i would use a hammer and a block of wood to knock the links out of the eyelet on the sway bar. probably a good idea to spray some pb blaster or something like that in there first to help loosen it

also maybe try grabbing the fat end of the link with channel lock pliers and twist it to try to break it free

Never gonna happen. Pull out the biggest hammer you got and relive some stress. The tapered ends are stubborn

I'll give it a shot. Anyone know if replacement hardware from, say, Lowe's is ok? At least for those longer bolts. I'd like to replace them all though.

Idk, I've seen some pretty dumb questions before...

Not saying this one was. I'd get another spanking if I did that.

Everything is apart and I am in the midst of sanding down the sway bar of all rust and junk. New end links/bushings are in. Now just a matter of deciding on what to do with the hardware.

Grade 8 will be fine from where ever lol just take all that stuff with you like the bolts and stuff... It'll be metric stuff going into frame like M8 maybe? Just take it all with you
