I was doing some work to my 91 Cherokee this weekend and battery went dead, jumped it using a portable booster pack, and it shorted it and saw a bunch of smoke come out of the pcm by the air box (56027887) this is a replacement one I belive because the production date it 07/08/93 now jeep won't start, this is were my question is, my gf works at autozone and can get me a new one for $150 and spouse to be all programmed and plug and play has anyone done this or know a good spot to get a jeep factory one?

 

Chrysler doesn't provide them any longer. Try one from an Auto Parts Store.

 

check on-line there are a couple of websites for overhauled PCM's. Check the warranties as they vary. You will need to supply the old core, mileage and complete VIN number. I got mine from a place in Florida, ordered one day and it on the second day, programmed ready to go.

 

I am just worried that if I send it out most of those websites, say there is a fee if they can rebuild it anywhere from 50-100 but the ones I look at also had a 1-lifetime warranty and the one from autozone has a 1 year warrant no core also found a place they send out a rebuilt and reprogrammed pcm http://www.shipecm.com/index.php?rou...product_id=356 for about the same cost but I have never used this company
