so i'm here to bug you guys again, so today when i started the jeep the oil pressure went straight to 40 which is good, then slowly went down to about 10 i idled a little bit and it dropped down to 0 and check guages turned on i started driving again and it went back up to 10, but then i idled and went to zero, i know it's not the sensor just replaced it, so what's next to try to fix? also note engine does not tick or knock, just changed the old oil, to new fresh oil with i love the color of , maybe to oil pump is bad? i don't know. i just hope it's not an expensive fix. I'm slowly buying parts here and there to upgraded all the old rusted parts on the front.

Could be the sensor. Just because its.new doesn't mean its good. Do a continuity/ voltage test

anyone? soooooo i have another question, how exactly do i tell if it's the u-joint, or the bearing on the wheel that's bad? because when i had the car lifted in the air i wiggled the tire and bit and it wobbled A LOT, i want to try to get everything i can done to the front end while i have it up in the air so i can get it all done in one shot, thinking about replacing the u-joints on both wheels, bearings on both wheels, rotors, and brake pads, maybe shocks too but i'm not sure they seem to be ok, just get that urn ehh urn ehh kinda sounds when going over a few big bumps.

Also another question, i'm thinking about replacing the fuel filter because i have no clue how old the one on there is now, sound like a good idea?, can someone help me find the parts on rock auto for the u-joints that go onto the front axle the connect to the wheel hub, also the wheel bearing, i'm not sure which u-joint i need, kinda confusing. Thanks.

Front axle u-joints- there are all sorts of choices, solid, greasable, etc.
Assuming a '97 XJ, 4WD, 4.0: (and assuming no liability should your jeep not match standard part numbers for some reason)
AC Delco solid joint (non greaseable) should be Part # 45U0104 for the front shaft outers, right near the tires.
If you want greasable, it's Part # 45U0114
Spicer is another reputable brand.
Stay away from the $9 joints.

Front hub assembly w'bearing, raybestos Part # 713084 is listed to fit your XJ, or Timken Part # 513084. Skip the cheaper units, the bearings won't last.

Fuel filter is a good idea if you don't know how long it's been in service.

The shake- best I can say is to get a helper, lift the jeep and have then shake the wheel while you watch for moving parts. There are too many possibilities to guess, from bearings to tie rod ends to ball joints...

i am certainly no expert but when the camera was shakeing the steering wheel wasnt? correct? if thats the case it seems to me that its going to be a driveline issue like ujoints on the driveshafts not the axle joints
is the truck lifted. maybe you need the transfer case drop. where are you located have you posted in the forum for your area perhaps you can find someone local you can take the jeep to aid you in youre diagnosis, unless of course you have an endless supply of cash, in which case just replace everything sooner or later yer bound to replace the correct part.
fuel filter is in the tank and is non serviceable(in other words if you are gonna do the filter might as well replace the fuel pump)

i meant show a vid of you with the wheel off the ground wiggleing it, first top to bottom than side to side

side to side is likely steering parts top to bottom, bearings

also from what i have experienced if the axle joints are stiff than when going around a tight circle slowly, the steering wheel will rock back and forth as you turn...ken

the steering wheel does shake slightly, not violently though. the jeep is all stock it's not lifted, to my knowledge, i'll take a vid when i get home after work to show the movement in the wheel in the air with me shaking it, (on a side note gonna go camping on the 2nd for my birthday ^_^ excited). I'll look for the parts thank you guys very much
