Default question concerning rear brakes 90 Cherokee

Working on the rear brakes of my Cherokee. My adjusting lever only has the cable attached to it. However my Haynes manual shows the cable going to the lever AND a spring. Mine doesn't have the spring. Is my Cherokee correct or is the schematic on page 9-8 in the Haynes manual correct. I know designs changed over the years so is like to know what's correct for a 90 Cherokee. Anyone have a good blown up pic?

Yes, there is supposed to be a spring there. I have a '90 Cherokee too and I just did by rear brakes about a month ago. The diagram in the Haynes is correct for your jeep. If you are missing the spring you can get a spring set at your local auto parts dealer or just grab one from your local auto wrecker.

Wonder if the diagram in the book is for 10 inch brakes.I have the 9 inch brakes on mine. If you go to autozone.com and look at the all in one kit,it doesn't show that additional spring in the pic for the 9 inch brakes.
