Default question on bearings

was told that if you run out of oil pressure which i did that scoring the bearings can cause low oil pressure, is this so?? flushed engine and installed new pump......getting very lite rattle on start up that last like a second if that then smooths out and runs good but oil pressure is dropping low as engine heats up.........any thoughts???????? pressure is 40 on start up and then drops to 20 in just a couple of minutes after running and eventually (as engine heats up) falls near 0 and will hit 0 but i kill the engine before it does.

Let me get this straight.

You ran the truck with no oil pressure. Took the pan off to change the oil pump but did not inspect the bearings while you were in there?

If that is the case, then yes, your bearings and potentially the crank are destroyed. This is causing your oil pressure problem.

You need to either pull the crank and have it ground along with installing all new bearings and potentially connecting rods if the bearings spun, or you need to find a new short block.

Scored rod and main bearings aren't the cause, it's worn cam bearings.
