Question Puzzled on radiator cap. Please help

Hello,
I'm new to jeeps but not new to working on vehicles. I recently bought a 96 XJ 4.0l 4x4. Last owner said it just had a full radiator flush, new fan clutch, new water pump, new thermostat, new water temp sensor, and new radiator. Everything PO stated turned to look like the truth. PO said there was a leak at the back of the engine. I haven't seen it happen yet.

Here's the problem, when temp on the dash gauge gets to approximately 212-215, water POURS out of the radiator cap (~1/2 gallon in 60 seconds). 100% positive it comes from the cap and not a cracked neck or hose or something like that. Have tried many different caps. The new radiator has the plastic neck.

What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

the cap may not be on all the way. there are 2 places for the cap to stop when removing. push down and turn to close completely.

Thanks, but I've made sure that wasn't the problem.

Clogged reservoir, or reservoir coolant hose? I just recently had the same issue with my 2000 xj, and it turned out that the very bottom of the overflow reservoir had a restriction in the line causing the coolant to leak from the radiator cap when the pressure built up.

You can borrow a cooling system pressure tester from Vatozone that will also test the cap as well.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't double checked the reservoir yet. Will also Check the pressure. In the midst of messing with the radiator. The fuel pump let go on it and the dang thing wouldn't start. Hard to test a radiator problem if it doesn't run! Anyways got the new fuel pump in last night. It's running again. Will play with it this afternoon. Thanks again.
